Thoughts&Observations | Mangá: Vol.1-3 Part 7 - Shadi's Arc Part 3

Hellos!

I'm finally being able to speed up my progress on this project update old posts and bring new analysis to the early volumes, my intent is 2 posts per month, so I can be finished by July or August with Dark Side of Dimensions and it's prologue one shot.

I hope it will be this speed, which I think is the most realistic speed I can go with...

Getting to the Plot Summary, since is the last post of Shadi's Arc.

Plot Summary:

The challenge was set and the time came for Dark Yugi at the roof of Domino University (yes, Domino as city has an university and museum, a fictional city, though), when he arrived, Shadi had everything prepared, the base rules are more or less this shadow game has 3 challenges with Anzu's life standing on plank hold through 4 ropes in hostage by 5 Ushebti statues, 4 of them are of Dark Yugi if broke weakens the hold of rope or lose all of it...and 1 of them is of Shadi and is tied to the millennium key, if Shadi's Ushebti breaks, the millennium key frees Anzu as puppet...

The 3 challenges are all in form of illusions, the first is zombie-like monsters crawling to Dark Yugi as he tries to solve the riddle given by Shadi, the 2nd challenge is Ammit holding Dark Yugi's arms where floor plaques in front of him to reflect Ammit as mirror, the first 2 challenges Dark Yugi solves it splendidly, the 3rd challenge proves to be difficult to test Dark Yugi's ruthlessness or strength of will, an illusion forms Jounouchi but how "Jounouchi" was before becoming friends with Yugi, to shake Dark Yugi's and Yugi's confidence and strength of will...which proves to be very challenging.

While Dark Yugi is facing these challenges, Jounouchi is busy to defend himself without harming too much P!Yoshimori, to a point he almost fell from the window but thanks to his excellent athletic abilities, he somehow pulls it off by holding himself to the outer wall of building as he tries to get away from the P!Yoshimori and seeing Anzu on plank in serious danger, so he tries to climb up in attempt to rescue her.

As it moves along between Jounouchi trying to reach the plank climbing up, as the only rope was holding the plank, while "Jounouchi" illusion disappears as Dark Yugi firmly believing in "Jounouchi" illusion even as an illusion, that illusion starts to disappear with his faith in Jounouchi, Shadi's Ushebti starts to weaken and the only rope holding the plank starts losing strength, the real Jounouchi on time holds the plank for as long he can while P!Yoshimori still following him, then Shadi's Ushebti breaks and millennium key slides to Anzu's hand, reverting her to normal, then Dark Yugi immediately comes to help in rescue Anzu and asks Jounouchi to pick the millennium key to touch P!Yoshimori so he can revert back to normal, somehow everyone gets safe and sound and Sugoroku already awoke catched up to them, Dark Yugi see and face Shadi, Shadi leaves the roof with parting words and giving clues to Dark Yugi...

Anzu and Jounouchi exchange whispering that they were under the impression that the "Yugi" wasn't Yugi...in order to confirm they approach "Yugi" as Dark Yugi to confirm, for a little bit was Dark Yugi when was about to turn around , when "Yugi" turns around completely, it was the Yugi who was taking over and not Dark Yugi and they start wondering if they kinda went crazy, all happy for all of them to be safe and sound as the millennium Key falls and goes back to it's owner...Shadi as he leaves the place.

Key Points:

We're starting to see more of the "regular" art version that is familiar, even in Anzu and Jounouchi by this time, even sometimes we get to see glimpses of the more "sinister" version, even in one of them like the Panels Ensemble on the Left is more towards the "sinister" while the Panels Ensemble on the Right is more towards the "regular", just interesting comparisons, as if the "sinister" and "regular" is accompanying their growth and development, specially Dark Yugi, Yugi, Jounouchi, Kaiba, Anzu and Honda, but the most is certainly Dark Yugi.

About this scene in general, I'll say it, as "ruthless" as it sounds from Shadi, however to me is more reckless and irresponsible, because he could use illusion, one is the real Anzu and the other is an illusion, I think it would be more effective and soundly responsible...honestly he did some unnecessary set ups.

Dark Yugi here sounds more concern based on feeling responsible for her life, after all she is a childhood friend and crush of his "host" that he acts as spirit guardian, as friend and possibly thinking maybe crush on her because his "host" has a crush on her...because the romantic part at this time for me is always to I'm not sure if is the case or not, there are times seems more as friend and other times more influence of Yugi's romantic feelings for Anzu, even Yugi sometimes feels what Dark Yugi/Atem is feeling and vice-versa for being two different spirits/individuals sharing the same body.

Thoughts and Observations of Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga Series Masterpost Updated Ver.2

Since there is many posts of my analysis over the course of 5 years and 5 months, I think is around hundreds... I'm starting the process of organization, re-arrangement, reformulation of most posts...

As I re-upload images to the currently image host I'm using in the missing Battle City Arc posts, DDM, then will be Duelist Kingdom and lastly the early which more episodic arcs, as I do this, I will keep post links, including updated ones, but only in this post, you will be able to tell when is new updates...The orders of the links of the posts will start from Memory World Arc and upwards, the new ones will always be above the previous posted links.

You might wonder why I'm troubling myself with this, it's because before I go into analysis of Transcend Game One Shot and Dark Side of Dimensions movie, I want my analysis of the manga to be polished first since my manga analysis posts will be constantly mentioned, specially the movie (so yeah, the Transcend Game and the movie Dark Side of Dimension is literally the expansion of the manga).

Thoughts&Observations | Mangá Vol.33 Part 1/3 (The Quest for the Pharaoh Lost Name)

Now we're entering the 2nd volume part 1 of Memory World, wow,.
For awhile volume 2 and 3 are divided in 3 parts, so it might come a little faster the posts, if my current circumstances allow it...(I just moved recently, not the most basic ideal place of living but I'm hanging there, I don't have much of a choice anyway...).

Plot Summary:

As Dark Yugi is coming back to his throne holding his father's corpse inside his own thoughts, the fight between the priests and thief Bakura continues, they struggle with their spirits Ka against the powerful thief Bakura's evil ka, the priest is almost about to lose the fight when Dark Yugi intervenes to protect the priests and he summons one of his three gods, the Obelisk, they have an important conversation about ideals, morality and truth, then comes the clash between Diabond and Obelisk, the pharaoh and Obelisk practically wins the fight by taking a lot of damage from thief Bakura's Ba, but has enough to run away...

Inside the Millenium Puzzle, the gang struggles to find the right door and they ask Bobasa what is their goal in going into the Memory World, Bobasa reveals the gang mission is to find Dark Yugi's lost name and Yami Bakura's shadow spy listening to their conversation...

Dark Yugi is in the balcony of the palace watching over his country at night, the vizier Siamun and priest Mahado and other private conversation between priest Seto and Priest Akhenaden, they start talking about the recent events, then Dark Yugi looks up to the night sky thinking about his friends and looking at the cartouche as he starts to consider about his lost name.

Key Points:

The panels on the left...I really wonder how Takahashi-sensei keeps those details of Dark Yugi's accessories from his pharaoh outfit and does it beautifully...the expressions as well...

On the subject of the scene, as he walks back to the throne to take his father's corpse, he is with an expression of being lost in thoughts, he is wondering about what thief Bakura said about being his father who made them, as you can remember Dark Yugi does have a tendency to doubt a bit easily...but...

I love this scene, it shows his character development like this instance of his long and full acknowledgement about the evil within the millenium items and admits being undeniable since Pegasus mentioned the "evil intelligence" inside the millenium items, however it bugs me one thing in what he is thinking, but only a little:

"When I think of everyone who's used the millenium items...Pegasus...Marik...Bakura...There must be an evil power hidden in them...there's no getting around it..."

The line when he says "everyone" and then refers to his enemies who wielded and wields millenium items, you would think he is excluding himself, Shadi and Ishizu, but the added "there is no getting around it", he is including himself, Shadi and Ishizu, because himself did use violent to slightly violent shadow games, specially in a psychological way, Shadi was quite violent with them, but the most extreme were the three that Dark Yugi mentioned, even Ishizu for him doesn't fully get away with it because she was slightly tempted by the ability of predicting the future from the Millenium Tauk in a attempt to win against Kaiba, she cheated a little, one way or another those who wielded the millenium item were seduced by the darkness within them somehow, even a little (like Ishizu), the moment Pegasus spoke of the "evil intelligence" within them, Dark Yugi stopped using his millenium puzzle to do penalty games and shadow games.

"Father...I want to know the truth...Do you really make them? And if so, why?"

Besides the readers at this point for the first time would suspect what most thief Bakura said is the truth as I mentioned in the previous post , Dark Yugi suspects the same, but is willing to give the benefit of doubt to his father, because he must have wondered did his father, his predecessor personally created them or asked the royal scholars to do without knowing the evil within and being made of black magic? he must have considered possibilities, but since there is yet evidence to say otherwise, because there is the existence of the millenium items to prove that he might have made them or ordered to, even though his time of ruling proven he was a good leader which contradicts for someone creating or ordered to create forbidden magical artefacts with black magic as wondering did his father knew beforehand? so he feels conflicted and can only give the benefit of doubt and wants to know the truth and why, so that then he can make a decision about it...

Thoughts&Observations | Mangá Vol.16-17 Part 2 (Dungeon Dice Monsters Part 2)

I'm warning you already, this post is gonna be huge according to the amount of pictures I selected, it may become comparable to the duel Dark Yugi and Yugi VS Pegasus post...

Plot Summary:

In the previous post we left off Yugi being thrown to a dark room by a security guard in Black Clown store, Yugi finds Otogi Ryuji waiting for him to play the game he designed himself, D.D.M. - Dungeon Dice Monsters- , Ryuji doesn't explain all the rules to Yugi before they even start (tch, figures), Yugi learns all the rules and necessary information by Ryuji and insight through the progress of the game, when Yugi grows more determined, he is starting to catch up, Ryuji reveals he is after his millenium puzzle to become the king of games and his father (Mr.Otogi, the clown) plus Sugoroku backstory between master and pupil.
Yugi starts taking the lead, Mr Otogi irritated by this, he suddenly shows up and breaks the millenium puzzle to break Yugi's will to fight, with this turn of events, the millenium ring in Bakura's necklace senses something wrong with the puzzle and the spirit of the ring comes back again, Honda is walking with his dog and sees Bakura entering the Black Clown store, security guards blocking Yami Bakura and he knocks them out through the power of the millenium ring, as Yugi picks up, Ryuji helps pick them up, Otogi challenges to them solve the puzzle by whoever wins, Yugi starts losing the lead, then Yami Bakura showing his support to Yugi for his own reasons and confirming Yugi is the true host of the millenium puzzle, Sugoroku and Yugi's friends starts getting worried and Honda warned them about Yami Bakura coming back.
Thanks to Yami Bakura giving some encouragement and making sure Yugi's will to fight for his millenium puzzle was back on track, Yugi wins splendidly, Yami Bakura did something to one of the pieces of the puzzle to put a bit of his soul in it to spy on it once the puzzle would be completed and give it to Yugi, Ryuji calling out his father about his revenge and see the error of his ways, mr.Otogi pretended to regret it, he puts the necklace of the millenium puzzle and at this same moment stifles Yugi and drags him to a secret door that can only open from the inside, forcing him to play a forbidden game he played years ago against Sugoroku, allows you to age quicker as you advance the game (Sugoroku won) but as way in trying to kill Yugi and get the puzzle for himself, but before so he nailed the chains of the puzzle to a table where was a board game on top, Mr. Otogi tries to solve the puzzle but as he tries, the millenium puzzle drags him to some sort of labyrinth, panicking for sensing danger and loses balance, because the only light were candle, some of the candles falls and a fire starts...
Yugi and mr.Otogi can't open the secret door, they're stuck, fire starting on mr.Otogi, Yugi advises him to roll on the floor to help the fire disappear, he was surprised by Yugi's kindness after what he has done to him, they start screaming for help, Yugi's friends arrive and Bakura back to normal plus Ryuji, Honda and Jounouchi are able to break the door and save mr.Otogi, but Yugi insists on saving the puzzle, Jounouchi stays with Yugi to make sure they get out alive, Yugi begins solving the puzzle and in a few minutes he completed and lost consciousness, the fire was starting to surround them, Yugi strongly holding the puzzle, Jounouchi desperate, he heard Dark Yugi's voice and seem to have given idea how to unnail the chains and it works, Jounouchi get out of the fire while holding Yugi to bring themselves back to safety.

Key Points:

I find Yugi choices of dices of type of monsters interesting, the black dice has unknown special kind of monsters and unknown, but the known colors monsters types dices gets me thinking, according to the info about types of monsters each color represent, Yugi choses between Warriors and Spellcasters, if we think about it, that's Yugi's deck tendency as well and few others types, to be honest, I would chose the same ones as Yugi.

It's very telling how well Yugi's friends know Yugi, they're very sure he is around, another detail about Jounouchi I like, Jounouchi has a pretty good intuition and they aren't easy to fool when comes to Yugi, Jounouchi and Ryou obviously suspect something is wrong and to the readers about some info on Yugi's habits when comes to his hobbies, from how Jounouchi's claims:

"He'd go without food for a day before he'd give up on a game!"

It got me thinking, it's possible Yugi may have sacrificed his allowances to buy games (I do it often to save money so I can buy video games), he may have done a few times from Jounouchi claim...

I take priority on my lunch if I'm at school or work and save money, it seems Yugi may have a bit of impulsive shopping when comes to games.

Ryou Bakura also has good intuition, he starts getting suspicious of the store and worried, in the panel, he isn't wearing the millenium ring at the same time foreshadowing future events.

New Yu-Gi-Oh! movie coming 23rd April 2016 - Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions

I know I'm late on this, but the main reason doing this is because we had more reveals in the new trailer about the movie, which makes me want to advance my manga analysis faster and bring the subject up.

I'll start with the teaser trailer first...

Just the "Story - Script - Character Design - Executive Producer" and then "Kazuki Takahashi", the first time I watched it felt like a punch in the face when I read these words, anything about this movie throws at you is canon, official, it follows the original story of the manga (it means Pegasus is already dead, he's not alive like in the anime version and spin offs series)...it follows through 6 months after the Ceremonial Duel...

I'm not over yet...

The Newest trailer, let's call it trailer 2...

To me this movie seems to be a bit scary, I'm excited but also nervous at the same time for various reasons, I trust Kazuki Takahashi, I'm almost sure will be a splendid movie for big fans of YGO like myself, who've read the manga specially, this is a big deal, anyone who is still catching up with the spin-off series, it will change a lot in YGO! history forward after the events of this movie, even the trailer says itself, it's an original story, the development, writting, design by Kazuki Takashi, the creator of the original story of Yu-Gi-Oh!

We all know Atemu/Atem is coming back, the question is how?

according to the trailers and the plot synopsis:

"By completing the Millennium Puzzle, Yugi Muto awoke another personality inside himself, called “Yami Yugi”. Along with Seto Kaiba, the president of Kaiba Corporation, reigned as the pinnacle of Duelists, and their various friends and allies, both Yugis fought in many battles tied to the ancient past. Ultimately Yugi and Yami Yugi were forced to fight against one another, and in the end they bid farewell to one another as they walked their own separate paths… … …

Then, after their final Duel with Yami Yugi, Yugi and his friends returned to their normal lives.

But then a mysterious boy named “Aigami” appears before them.

As a series of cases of people disappearing happen one after another across the entire planet.And Kaiba single-mindedly searches for the Millennium Puzzle.

When all the pieces of the puzzle are reunited, the Duels shall begin again!"

We can assume and speculate, Kaiba because of recent mysterious events he searches for the Millenium Puzzle and seems Yugi completes the Millenium Puzzle, supposedly will bring him back and take over Yugi's body again and face this new threat, Kaiba and Yugi will duel against each other for the first time ever on-screen and Kaiba seems will have another rematch with Atem/Atemu. The question how Atem/Atemu comes back still stands, we all have seen for anyone who have watched episode 224 and the last chapter of the manga knows he did go to afterlife, so it's more complicated than it sounds, I don't think it's just completing the puzzle Millenium and is done.

I'm not sure according to the teaser and trailer 2 means, there were some analysis around the internet, tumblr specifically, in the teaser trailer and promotional images and some screenshots...

[Speculations] Semi-Finals and Finals

those are my speculations related to semi-finals and the finals.

the picture of the the organization of the tournamet, are speculations which Team that Team 5D's gonna duel agaisnt.
in general, Team 5D's agaisnt Glass Mask guy in the Semi-Finals and in the Finals agaisnt Cherie/Sherry Team.
why?, because those are the opponents will enter in the tournament that appear in the OP, why Cherie/Sherry in the finals? simple, she is the one who has the card Yliaster was after, Sherry/Cherie has stronger motivation and give much more advancement to the plot, and know what's behind of Z-ONE card.

speculations of a rule or similar in WRPG

I'm not sure if was explained in episode 96, about the sort of organizion in every duel between 2 teams, like when 2 team riding duel, in terms of order, for example, which decide who VS who order.
there is many ways, when are in teams, in rounds (example: round 1[wheeler A vs Wheeler B], round 2[wheeler C VS wheeler D],etc).
from as far I understood from the previews, is not tag duel as I thought, but order in round, but not in the same I mentioned, is different (and I don't like it]
I will give you the example, how it progresses from the previews, it seems in every team are 2 d-wheelers and Last D-wheeler(therefore 3 d-wheelers), by rounds, is sort of like Team Battle in Beat'em Up video games:

Team 5D's VS Team Unicorn

1st Round: Jack (L) VS Andre (W)
2nd Round: Aki(L) VS Andre (W)
3rd Round: Yusei (W) VS Andre (L)
supposely is this way at start BUT, you have to beat all the others from Team Unicorn, Yusei probably from preview 100, after beating Andre, has yet to beat the other 2, but probably Crow will enter in action, but for Crow to enter, yusei has to lose one agaisnt the other 2 d-wheelers is resting , I doubt the writers gonna make yusei lose...besides, has to be only 3 riding duel not 4, so even if crow would come in time, Crow couldn't continue anyways.
so the continuation:
4th Round: Yusei (W) VS andre teamate A(L)
5th Round (and last): Yusei (W) VS andre teamate B(L)

are you sort of understanding?
I found it very annoying if is it how will going progress this Riding Duel...
I mean, they aren't giving any space to others, agaisnt this team is annoying the progress, is like Yusei 3 concecutives wins, and the other 2 (Jack and Aki) loses, I say this: is very annoying, gives lack of development on ther main characters.
besides this, I don't like this kind of order in every riding duel, in Team Battle in Beat'em Ups is fine, but this is annoying and not helpfull in story and character development if progresses this way agaisnt Team Unicorn, now if was like this:

Team 5D's VS Team Unicorn

Round 1: Aki(W) VS andre teamate A(L)
Round 2: Aki (L) VS andre teamte B (W)
Round 3: Jack (W) VS andre teamte B (L)
Round 4: Jack (L) VS Andre (W)
round 5: Yusei (W) VS Andre (L)

(it would be better this way)

but still I don't like this order.
it seems the number of round are:
Minimum: 3 rounds
Maximum: 5 rounds
I like more being just 3, like this:

Round 1: Jack (W) VS andre teamte A (L)
Round 2: Aki (L) VS andre teamate B (W)
Round 3: Yusei (W) VS Andre (L)

but even this way can limit story and characters in development even more, so the one refered in the previews, gives much more development, if is used well, not like this agaisnt Team Unicorn. why give more, here the following, if Yusei is the Last D-Wheeler, then can be some "Team Battles" Yusei doesn't Riding Duel, therefore can give more screentime and development to other main characters, but since the Riding Duels are by D-Wheels, so the development of the twins can only rest on Luciano.

I guess is about it in this part WRPG, in Rounds in every battle.
of course in every Team Battle there is an objective, to advance until the finals...
Team Battle Objective: Defeat all the 3 members of the Team.

we could say this tournament is more complex and longer than it looks.

[Speculations] Rua&Crow - 5th Dragon - Crimson Dragon

Episode 95, the debut of Black Feather Dragon (BFD), probably as the New 5th signer dragon, since BFD is different from 5th dragon ancient battle of signers, I see more as birth or newcomer in signers dragon group, if we notice Ruka when had her dragon, didn't that whole thing like something new did come, or something...a lot of fuss:

so we can see the yellow dragon from the ancient battle as Previous 5th Dragon, we know there is a dragon very similar to Previous 5th Dragon, Power Tool Dragon, now please observe this image link (right click -> open new window or tab):

I guess Rua is more involved in the plot than most people think, mostly think is just for comic relief...and this idea is wrong, why I think Rua is more involved in the plot (more than Crow)? here the reasons:
-Rua was between the 5 main Characters before it airs (with Yusei, Jack, Ruka and Aki)
-Episode 42, look at the title, and in the episode itself showing the key cards (Stardust Dragon, Red Demon Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon and Power Tool Dragon).
-Power Tool Dragon is extremely similar with Previous 5th Dragon, except it's body material, so changes in some parts, just the material makes difference.
-In episode 78, shows a important hint about Rua involvement in the plot, that I will show soon.
-Also Power Tool Dragon in some of most important battles (vs Divine and Demak) did shown weird and suspicious reactions.

as for related to episode 78 I would show you, but I have to start first for when Yusei and Jack summons their Savior Dragons versions, we know what happens usually right? all signers marks starts to shinning in their arms and disappear, to join Yusei or Jack's back, making the Crimson Dragon Symbol(example- the animated gif):

Same happens...except the Crimson Dragon Symbol in someone's back, when Rua is falling and being saved by Crimson Dragon himself :

did you noticed something odd, even Ruka felt, that something passed, ressembles the shining and line of a dragon birthmark, who saw the episode, makes the sound when a birthmark is awakening. what could be that line and was right when was saving or about to save Rua? is a new mark, will have a new signer? 6th signer? or is a different position between the signers? is possible all this stuff, but shall I put what can be maybe the reasons happening this...
If we notice, birthmarks are separated, aren't we missing something? when savior dragon is used as material for Stardust Dragon or Red Demon Dragon, when the birthmarks disappear and all together make the Crimson Dragon Symbol appear in Yusei back's or Jack's back and when with Rua happens the following, the marks all join together and Apparation of Crimson Dragon, right between Crimson Dragon apparition and prepare to save Rua, appears the mysterious line, that ressembles to the a birthmark in sound and form, is possible Rua represents this line, very possible. but what part is from Crimson Dragon? the Head, Wings, Claw, Leg and Tail, but these can't work alone to completly summon Crimson Dragon or use Savior Dragon, you have to connect and has to be bonded(bonds, the theme in this YGO series), and what bonds these other parts? ...The Body

yes...but we can't be sure of his position of maybe as new signer or a guardian maybe...I'm not over yet, I will tell more in more posts ahead.
sorry about this huge post is just there is a lot to explain my speculations
