Thoughts&Observations | Mangá Vol.33 Part 3/3 (The Girl and The White Dragon Residing Within)

So far, it is getting surprisingly smoothly about the speed in publishing my thoughts and observations, I might start writing the draft of Memory World Volume 3 Part 1 of next week (if it keeps up like this or faster, I might end this in August).
I'm finally done with volume 2 of Memory World, that was quite the long journey.

Plot Summary:

The gang is still searching for the true door to the world of memory, when Yugi tries though, it shows a difficult moment for Yugi and Dark Yugi during the duel of Dark Yugi against Kaiba fought in Duelist Kingdom, Yugi says that duel was very hard for Dark Yugi, then after some thinking he says this might be a trap to test their hearts, when Yugi notices Jounouchi's marks on the doors, he reminds himself of the symbol of the smiling face Anzu marked from the Death-T events, Yugi stands his hand in position and encourage them to do the same in the same positions like last time in Death-T, as if Yugi is guiding them to the world of memory, it was a success, as if the labyrinth was opening itself, then they enter falling from the sky into the world of memory...

The aftermath of the death of priest Mahado creates a heated discussion between the priests whether thief Bakura is alive or dead and what they're going to do about it, then Mana arrives and begs to see the stone slab of her master (priest Mahado/Black Magician), Dark Yugi let her in, she starts crying in front of the stone slab and asks the pharaoh to summon him, then priest Isis intervenes with a way for Mana to understand the situation better and giving advice to her.
Priest Seto asks for permission to the pharaoh if he can go and send troops to the city in the effort to search for thief Bakura in case he is alive, Dark Yugi is suspicious of priest Seto real intentions, he authorises on the condition to not throw the citizens into panic.

The gang successfully arrives inside the world of memory and also being amazed to see this world, there is an important conversation about how the rules works for the gang in this world of memory, while this conversation takes place, the priests are arriving the city and priest Seto reveals his real plan to priest Shada and there is a discussion about the Ka-hunt, then it moves to a bar, a man eating and drinking and tells his story in how he got off the desert, he saw a vision of a white dragon passing by that guided him back to the city, the guards surround him, revealing he was a criminal who was banished and thrown to the desert...they bring him to the priests, priest Shada does a reading to his soul revealing that he has a strong evil Ka in shape of a familiar evil clown, then the man says he prefers going to prison than being in the desert and speaks of the white dragon to the priests...

The gang is searching the area for clues and the palace, they find a girl who is in a weakened state being thrown to the ground by some citizens because of her pale skin, white hair and blue eyes, blaming her for the arrival of the priests to seize anyone who opposes them, the gang immediately goes to try to rescue her while forgetting the citizens can't see them, the priests arrive to the scene and asks the citizens what is going on, they try to explains themselves and priest Seto perceived they were bullying her and the reasons straight away and scold them for it and asks the guards to assist the girl with water and they reveal that she needs treatment because she is very weakened (lack of food and water plus wounded), the millenium key has a strong reaction to her due to her powerful Ka and tells priest Seto that is a shape of a white dragon...

Key Points:

This is when he a bad feeling in opening a door, it takes back to this moment in Duelist Kingdom, one can wonder, it was a turning point, specially for Dark Yugi and Yugi, Dark Yugi after this didn't play like he usually  would, Yugi was at odds with him and himself...

image.png image.png

At first Yugi thought it was from Dark Yugi's perspective, it was hard on him morally speaking, after all but when Yugi said:

"That fight...it was hard on the other me...his most painful memories are hidden behind this door...The moment I opened it, my heart ached, too"

He is quite right that was very hard for him, but for Yugi saying "my heart ached, too" and also there was bit of what Yugi was feeling at that moment and made him interfere "No...stop..." because in the aftermath of this duel as I wrote , Yugi interfered since the duel was going too far and dangerous, unnecessarily dangerous too caused by Kaiba's foolishness and reckless trait...speaks more to be one of Yugi's most painful memories, however it is also for Dark Yugi, but this instance is for Yugi, also he can't feel his presence at this time and why is the case that is his and not Dark Yugi despite his room of soul, since Dark Yugi is in a different dimension (the world of memory), and Yugi will explain it for me soon in one of the key points ahead.

Thoughts&Observations | Mangá Vol.33 Part 2/3 (The Death of Priest Mahado)

Now I have reached the 2nd part of this volume, when it focuses on Priest Mahado's death and what conducts to it, because his death is very important for his character and his role in the series overall...
It may come more posts per month around 2 or 3 posts and sometimes 4, like old times. :)

Plot Summary:

The next day after the battle against thief Bakura, they were determined to train and practice their ka battle and their teamwork, between the priests being divided in two teams consisted of 3 members each, Team Mahado (Mahado, Isis and Kalim) and Team Akhenaden (Akhenaden, Seto and Shada) while the pharaoh and the vizier are watching their training...Team Mahado showing an exemplary teamwork but Priest Seto fights ruthlessly and mercilessly even with his team members to the point of sacrificing one or three Ka of their teammates to power up his ka and win the battle against team Mahado, priest Seto starts to criticise priest Mahado about his ka and performance and Kalim tries to defend him but priest Seto conceitedly disagrees, since the pharaoh, Dark Yugi didn't approve priest Seto method of winning the match, he does lecture him in going overboard and is willing to give a demonstration by having a match with priest Seto requested by priest Seto himself, Dark Yugi easily wins without summoning a god but a different ka, the kuriboh while pointing out priest Seto weaknesses.
After the training, Mahado is on the outskirts of the palace and senses someone inside one of the decorative vases, asks to come out, introducing a new character that looks very familiar, a young girl named Mana and is Mahado's pupil, her intentions was to see his master off to serve the valley of the kings in order to protect the pharaohs tombs, specially the former king's tomb and has a conversation with the vizier Siamun, when priest Mahado leaves, the conversation continues between the vizier and Mana.
In the valley of the kings, the guards are preparing for something ordered by priest Mahado, putting a stone slab on the outskirts of the former king's tomb and priest Mahado is inside to catch and defeat thief Bakura, thief Bakura sucessfully enters the tomb and there is a match between their Ka, at the end of this fight, priest Mahado sacrifices himself to fuse his Ba with his Ka in becoming the Black Magician/Dark Magician, with his attack, thief Bakura has fallen from the collapsing bridge inside the tomb, it's uncertain if he died or not but priest Mahado shows up in the stone slab outside the tomb as Black Magician/Dark Magician...then is delivered to the pharaoh to give the sad news...

Key Points:

image.png image.png

Priest Seto methods is quite extreme and ruthless, even before thief Bakura threat, he was little extreme, but here is on a new level that is very unsightly, showing thirst for power, I guess thief Bakura put him on a new level of extreme...he sacrifices the Ka's of his team members in making sure he would achieve victory...Kaiba is also quite similar in this part...

image.png

Priest Kalim is quite right, thinking about it, if priest Seto didn't use such method to win, his team would be the one to lose because of Priest Mahado Team having better teamwork than Priest Akhenaden Team.

"Hmph...War isn't won by the number of soldiers...or the number of words. Mark these words, priest Kalim....I'll listen to you after you become a more worthwhile opponent."

To be honest, I quite disagree and agree, but power isn't the answer to win a war or a fight, that's quite naive and short-sighted, but he is right that isn't won by number of soldiers or words, also he does have the same problem as Kaiba, seeing the result of a battle as black and white, only if you win you have the right to say whatever you want and "to be right" and the loser has to bow his head, so conceited and close-minded, this kind of mindset irritates me and I strongly disagree.
Honestly, Priest Seto seems to have a problem with priest Mahado...

Thoughts&Observations | Mangá Vol.33 Part 1/3 (The Quest for the Pharaoh Lost Name)

Now we're entering the 2nd volume part 1 of Memory World, wow,.
For awhile volume 2 and 3 are divided in 3 parts, so it might come a little faster the posts, if my current circumstances allow it...(I just moved recently, not the most basic ideal place of living but I'm hanging there, I don't have much of a choice anyway...).

Plot Summary:

As Dark Yugi is coming back to his throne holding his father's corpse inside his own thoughts, the fight between the priests and thief Bakura continues, they struggle with their spirits Ka against the powerful thief Bakura's evil ka, the priest is almost about to lose the fight when Dark Yugi intervenes to protect the priests and he summons one of his three gods, the Obelisk, they have an important conversation about ideals, morality and truth, then comes the clash between Diabond and Obelisk, the pharaoh and Obelisk practically wins the fight by taking a lot of damage from thief Bakura's Ba, but has enough to run away...

Inside the Millenium Puzzle, the gang struggles to find the right door and they ask Bobasa what is their goal in going into the Memory World, Bobasa reveals the gang mission is to find Dark Yugi's lost name and Yami Bakura's shadow spy listening to their conversation...

Dark Yugi is in the balcony of the palace watching over his country at night, the vizier Siamun and priest Mahado and other private conversation between priest Seto and Priest Akhenaden, they start talking about the recent events, then Dark Yugi looks up to the night sky thinking about his friends and looking at the cartouche as he starts to consider about his lost name.

Key Points:

image.png image.jpg

The panels on the left...I really wonder how Takahashi-sensei keeps those details of Dark Yugi's accessories from his pharaoh outfit and does it beautifully...the expressions as well...
On the subject of the scene, as he walks back to the throne to take his father's corpse, he is with an expression of being lost in thoughts, he is wondering about what thief Bakura said about being his father who made them, as you can remember Dark Yugi does have a tendency to doubt a bit easily...but...

image.png image.png

I love this scene, it shows his character development like this instance of his long and full acknowledgement about the evil within the millenium items and admits being undeniable since Pegasus mentioned the "evil intelligence" inside the millenium items, however it bugs me one thing in what he is thinking, but only a little:

"When I think of everyone who's used the millenium items...Pegasus...Marik...Bakura...There must be an evil power hidden in them...there's no getting around it..."

The line when  he says "everyone" and then refers to his enemies who wielded and wields millenium items, you would think he is excluding himself, Shadi and Ishizu, but the added "there is no getting around it", he is including himself, Shadi and Ishizu, because himself did use violent to slightly violent shadow games, specially in a psychological way, Shadi was quite violent with them, but the most extreme were the three that Dark Yugi mentioned, even Ishizu for him doesn't fully get away with it because she was slightly tempted by the ability of predicting the future from the Millenium Tauk in a attempt to win against Kaiba, she cheated a little, one way or another those who wielded the millenium item were seduced by the darkness within them somehow, even a little (like Ishizu), the moment Pegasus spoke of the "evil intelligence" within them, Dark Yugi stopped using his millenium puzzle to do penalty games and shadow games.

"Father...I want to know the truth...Do you really make them? And if so, why?"

Besides the readers at this point for the first time would suspect what most thief Bakura said is the truth as I mentioned in the previous post , Dark Yugi suspects the same, but is willing to give the benefit of doubt to his father, because he must have wondered did his father, his predecessor personally created them or asked the royal scholars to do without knowing the evil within and being made of black magic? he must have considered possibilities, but since there is yet evidence to say otherwise, because there is the existence of the millenium items to prove that he might have made them or ordered to, even though his time of ruling proven he was a good leader which contradicts for someone creating or ordered to create forbidden magical artefacts with black magic as wondering did his father knew beforehand? so he feels conflicted and can only give the benefit of doubt and wants to know the truth and why, so that then he can make a decision about it...
